Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago between mainland Norway and the North Pole, proposing nature based experiences to the people who have the thirst for off the beaten path journeys. Siting right up there and overlooking the Arctic ocean, Svalbard is one of the world’s northernmost inhabited areas dotted with beautiful rugged, remote terrain of glaciers and frozen tundra sheltering polar bears, Svalbard reindeer and Arctic foxes. The seasonal variations this far north are enormous – the long, dark season is replaced by bright winter months, The Northern Lights are visible during winter, and summer brings the “midnight sun”—sunlight 24 hours a day. Life in Longyearbyen may be perceived both as different and perhaps extreme, but for those who are fortunate to live there, it’s hard to imagine anything else.
